Eritrea: Harmony Between Communities and Civil Servants a Driving Force for Better Development Accomplishments - Regional Administrator

Mendefera — The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Efrem Gebrekristos, said that the harmony witnessed on the part of communities and civil servants in the implementation of the current year's development activities is a driving force towards registering still more gratifying accomplishments. He made the remark at an assessment meeting, during which it was stated that the major community-led achievements of the year pertain to construction of terraces and water catchment walls, renovation of roads and others.

Accordingly, drip irrigation technology has been introduced in the environs of Ziban-Seb'o and Harnet Damn, while several infrastructural projects including that of meeting halls have been implemented. Moreover, the role of communities and civil servants as regards organizing the previous National Festival was described significant, and more efforts would be exerted to give added impetus to cultural, sports and tourism activities.

The participants of the meeting put forth focusing on several issues, and asserted that they would step up participation in the implementation of development activities.

In closing remarks, the regional Administrator outlined the work plan for 2014.
