Sudan: Gunmen Kill One Camp Resident, Rob Others in South Darfur

Kubum — A resident of Kubum camp for the displaced in South Darfur was shot dead by militiamen on Monday.

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, another Kubum camp resident reported that on Monday, militiamen stopped a group of displaced people returning from the Artala market. The gunmen threatened Haroun Adam Abdelrahman when he protested, and then fired a hail of bullets at him. Abdelrahman died of seven bullets to his chest, the source said.

The gunmen robbed the group of camp residents of their money and the goods they had bought at the market.

The camp resident explained that the security situation has gravely deteriorated. "A large number of people returning from the Artala market were robbed before. We are continuously assaulted, wherever we go."
