TWO MPs from Migori county have criticised recent calls on the ICC to drop the cases against Deputy President William Ruto. John Kobado (Uriri) and Danittah Ghati (women's representative) distanced themselves from comments by a section of leaders that Ruto should be obsolved of the case.
They said the comments by Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno and Governor Okoth Kobado are not binding. "We fully support the ICC process and anybody facing charges at the Hague should go on and clear his name peacefully," Kobado said."Otieno and Kobado simply pronounced what reflects their own wishful thoughts," he said.
They hosted Ruto a fortnight ago during a fundsdrive in Ranen village where they asked the ICC to drop the case against Ruto. Dalmas and Obado called for immediate withdrawal of cases saying the collapse of President Uhuru Kenyatta's case should lead to withdrawal of Ruto's case.
Dalmas said the case should be withdrawn for Ruto to concentrate on his duties as the DP. "I believe that should the Presidents cases collapse, the Ruto must also be withdrawn as he is not more guilty than the rest of Kenyans," he said.
