Kenya: Migori Top Candidate Says He's Eyeing Medical Career

The Migori county top 2013 KCPE candidate wants to be a doctor. Osano Ryan Dan from Rongo Success Academy in Rongo district, who scored 431 marks, said he was elated by the results.

"I'm happy and thank the lord for the results today and I wish to be a medical doctor later in life," he said. Osano, who was index in his school, said the results surpassed his wildest dreams.

"I attribute my success to prayers, hard work, discipline and dedication," he said. Osano said support from his parents, teachers and fellow candidates helped him to achieve the good results. His mother Jemimah Okello said although his son has been a good pupil since class one she could not have dreamed he would emerge top in the county.

"He was dedicated and worked hard, and although we knew he was going to pass being top in the county was above our dreams," she said. Elijah Kondeyo, the school's director, praised Osano for the good performance.

Kondeyo said the school sat its first examination in 2002 and got a mean score of 320. "We had 39 candidates in 2013 examinations and the dedication by staff, students and parents have bore fruits," he said.
