Nigeria: Kaduna Bridge Is 57, Still Going Strong

Kaduna — Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardaunan Sokoto opened it with a big splash in 1957. A motion had been moved in the Northern House of Assembly by an opposition member two years earlier for a bridge to be built over the River Kaduna.

The Premier of the Northern Region soon had the bridge built and all the North stood still in honour of the great feat. It cost 120,000 pounds to build that bridge, without which today, 57 years later, the sprawling old regional capital would be at a standstill.
