Egypt: Nour Party Stages First March in Upper Egypt to Support Constitution

The Salafi Nour Party in Minya has organised the first march to voice its support for the newly-drafted constitution which will be put to referendum in mid-January.

The party's secretariat organised the march on Wednesday in Adwa town in Northern Minya.

Hundreds of party supporters and a number of political powers took part in the march, an Aswat Masriya witness said.

The march's sole purpose is politically market a yes-vote for the constitutional referendum, the party stated.

Original copies of the constitution and leaflets explaining why the party calls for a yes-vote were distributed among participants.

Younis Makhioun, the Nour Party head, has previously said that there are international schemes that want Egypt to be divided into small states.

"Egypt is targeted for division like that which occurred in Somalia, Iraq, Yemen, Syria and Libya," Makhioun stated.
