Egypt: PM in Ismailia for Suez Canal Corridor Project

Prime Minister Hazem el-Biblawy will pay a visit to Ismailia on Monday 6/1/2014 to announce the request for proposal (RFP) of the Suez Canal Corridor, a project that will turn the banks of the Suez Canal into a world trading and industrial center and earn Egypt billions of dollars.

Biblawy has earlier ordered a ministerial panel to prepare the RFP under the umbrella of the Suez Canal Authority and the Armed Forces so that investors can start bidding for projects.

Some 22 global offices have applied for the project that aims at transforming the corridor along the 100-mile length of the canal from an area of mostly flat, empty desert into a major world economic zone.
