Gambia: Two Media Houses to Resume Operations

The Office of the President announced Tuesday evening that the ban on the Standard newspaper and Teranga FM were lifted with immediate effect as a goodwill gesture for the New Year. In a press release sent to the Daily Observer, the presidency said the two media houses [that ceased operations for more than a year] are free to
operate, but are urged to operate within the framework of the laws governing the media in this country. It wished all media houses and the general public a happy New Year.
