Kenya: Motorists Fined for Operating At Night

At least 100 motorists who were found flouting transport regulations have been fined Sh3 million by a Thika court. The motorists, mainly PSV drivers, were travelling at night.

The drivers were rounded up during a crackdown on the main roads to and from Thika town in Kiambu county. Senior principal magistrate Martha Mutuku fined each driver Sh30,000 or one year imprisonment in default. Prosecutor Richard Cheruiyot said the government is committed to stopping road carnage.
