Egypt: PM Discusses Black Sands Project

Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawy held on Thursday 02/01/2014 a meeting to discuss a project of maximizing benefits from black sands in Borolus area, Kafr el-Sheikh.

The meeting comes within the framework of following up the results of a previous meeting during which a technical committee, including representatives of most of the Egyptian ministries was formed to put a program and an action plan for the project.

The project will be carried out in two phases, the first is the extraction and purification of minerals and the second will be the establishment of factories to manufacture the raw materials, said the Cabinet Spokesman Hani Salah.

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Ahmed Galal, Oil Minister Sherif Ismail, Kafr el-Sheikh Governor and head of the Nuclear Materials Authority.
