Somalia: Somali Forces, Amisom Conduct Deadly Operation Against Armed Gangs

The local Somali forces and AMISOM peacekeepers have launched a deadly operation against armed gangs in Lower Shabelle on Friday. The operation launched on late Friday came local bus drivers and travelers reported armed gangs looting their belongings on the road between Leego the Lower Shabelle region and the Baay region on the country's southern portion.
According Leego district commissioner Abukar Abdullahi the local Somali forces helped the operation with AMISOM to clear illegal roadblocks that led to the arrest of seven of the armed gangs. Several armed gangs were killed during the operation on Friday.
Locals have welcomed the operation as the residents of the region called for same move to the other places in their region in order to clear the armed gangs looting the civilians.
