Kenya: Tong'i Invites Rivals to Join Him in Development

Nyaribari Chache MP- elect Richard Tong'i has told losers in the December 30 by-elections to patch up their political differences and join him in developing the constituency.

Tong'i said campaigns are over and he is now focusing on delivering the promises he made to the constituents. Speaking to the Star on the phone yesterday, Tong'i said he will channel his energies to serve the people irrespective of their political affiliations. "My first assignment will be moving around the constituency to consult the constituents on what they want to be given priority.

I don't want a situation where I initiate a project without the people's knowl- edge," he said. Tong'i, who ran on a Ford-People ticket, trounced his eight competitors in the race. He won with a margin of 388 votes ahead of his closest rival Chris Bichage of ODM.
