Mozambique: CAF President Mourns Portugal Legend Eusebio

It is with great emotion and great sadness that CAF President, Issa Hayatou, on Sunday, 5 January 2014, learnt of the death Eusebio da Silva Ferreira, known worldwide as 'Eusebio'.

Of African origin and born in Mozambique to be precise, he made his name in the late 60's and 70's with Benfica and the Portuguese national team. These exploits earned him the European Footballer of the Year award in 1965.

On behalf of the CAF Executive Committee and the African football family, CAF President Hayatou expresses his sincere condolences to the family of Eusebio, Portuguese football family and the great European football family.
