Liberia: UNMIL Clarifies Staff's Protest - Denounces Violence

The United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) has confirmed that a demonstration by "a small group" of mission's staff took place at the main entrance gate of its logistics base (Star Base) in Monrovia's Free Port Zone on Friday, 27 December. Protestors blocked the main entrance to Star Base, preventing all movement in and out of the compound, UNMIL said in a statement issued in Monrovia on Monday.

It was earlier reported over the weekend that civilian employees of UNMIL "clashed with the United Nations armed peacekeepers" in a protest over what they claim are unfavorable work conditions.
