Kenya: Mungatana, Muthaura 'Not Suitable'

CHANGAMWE MP Omar Mwinyi has said the appointment of Francis Muthaura and former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana as parastatal bosses is unsuitable.

Mwinyi said the posts should have been given to young professionals with fresh ideas. "I do not reject the appointment of Mungatana since he comes from the Coast, but the post should have gone to somebody who has more experience on port issues," said Mwinyi.

He said the position that has been given to Muthaura should have been left to Professor Shaukhat Abdulrazak, who had served in the same position for months before he was replaced. Speaking in Changamwe on Saturday during the issuance of registration certificates to the youth and women groups, Mwinyi raised fears that the appointments might give room for corruption.
