Somalia: Military Soldier Executed in Mogadishu

A military court in Somalia's capital Mogadishu has ordered the execution of a soldier of the Federal Government National Army in Mogadishu on Monday after he was found guilty of the killing a high school student last year, shabelle Radio reports.

A firing squad consisting of five men from the military and the police forces executed the soldier named Maslah Isse at public ground near the Police Academy in Hamar jajab district of Mogadishu.

The execution happened early on Monday as Military Court officials, family members of the executed soldier, the family of the deceased student and crowd of people gathered at the scene early morning. The Military Court officials said after long investigations on the case, the court ruled a death penalty against the soldier.

Court officials told reporters that in the coming days other prisoners will face the same fate if found guilty.
