Nigeria: House - We Won't Attend to the Budget Unless...

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

The 2014 budget revenue framework will not get the attention of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance unless the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, responds to 50 questions given to her by the Committee last December 19 on the state of the Nigerian economy.

Prior to this development, a source in the Committee had expressed displeasure over the failure of the minister to meet the two weeks deadline given to her to submit written answers to the questions.

The threat of non consideration of the revenue framework of this year's budget was dropped by Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin (APC, Kano), who had a face-off with the minister when she appeared before his committee last year and was handed the set of 50 questions.
