Kenya: Mtwapa Squatters to Be Resettled On Private Land They Call Home

The government plans to buy a private land occupied by squatters in Mtwapa, Kilifi to resettle them. The more than 4,000 squatters have been living in the 120-acre land for more than 20 years.

Kilifi South MP Mustafa Idd said the government, in conjunction with the county government, has agreed to buy the land and subdivided it to the squatters. Speaking in Kilifi town yesterday, Idd said the government has started engaging a valuer to put a price to the land.
