Traffic violation tickets issued by the Ticketing Unit of the Liberia National Police (LNP) have generated over L$5.4 million in 2013. The Unit issued 8,108 tickets that fed government coffers with L$3,374,444.99 and US$24,620.72, an equivalent of L$2,018,899 (US$1=L$82), during the period under review.
The money covers collection from the Ticketing Unit, Highway Patrol Section, Motorcycle Unit and the counties, according to the 2013 annual report of the LNP Traffic Section obtained by the Liberia News Agency Wednesday. The report indicated that of the amount collected, US$11,480 was raised from 900 traffic violation tickets issued to motorcyclists in 2013.
