Kenya: Kisumu, Homa Bay Traders Enjoy Loans

SMALL scale traders from Kisumu and Homa Bay counties have lauded efforts by Life for Children Welfare to boost their businesses. Rose Siwa, an omena seller, yesterday said they have been able to obtain loans from the microfinance institution to boost their trade.

She said the loans are easy to service because of their low interest rates. Life for Children Welfare director Mike Agwanda said they are working with more than 60 women groups in the two counties. "We recruit, train, offer certificates and ask them to save money," he said.
