Liberia: Damballa Health Center Gets U.S.$189K Annex

Construction work on an annex to the Damballah Health Center in Porkpa Statutory District, Grand Cape Mount County, valued at US$189,000 is advancing as planned, an official of the county has disclosed.

Grand Cape County Assistant Superintendent for Development, Tenneh Simpson Kpatabah, told the Liberia News Agency recently that the county's administration decided to expand the center to adequately meet the health needs of the district.

Porkpa has a population of 40,921, comprising 21,270 male and 19,651 females, according to the 2008 National Housing and Population Census. Supt. Kpatabah said it was time for local leaders to engage in activities that will buttress government's health delivery program in the supreme interest of the citizens

She appealed to the company implementing the project to employ citizens of the district for the project to help build their financial capacity-LINA reports

192 Babies Born at Sinje Health Center in 2013

Reports from the Sinje Health Center in Garwula Statutory District, Grand Cape Mount County, says about one hundred and ninety-two babies were born in 2013 at Officer-in-Charge N. Teteh Sneh disclosed that out of this number, 107 of the newborns were girls, while 85 were boys.

She told the Liberia News Agency Thursday that the babies were certificated by the administration of the health center for its data base and to fast track the process to acquiring birth certificate.

The OIC said the center is providing free medical services to the citizens in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. She said the center is also catering for villages and towns in the district.

She commended staff of the center for the professional services rendered during the year 2013, noting that this has brought credibility to the administration of the center.
