Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) said Friday (January 10th) its fighter jets targeted an al-Shabaab training camp in Garbarahey in Gedo region on Thursday, killing at least 30 al-Shabaab militants, including top commanders.

"Scores of others escaped with multiple injuries. More than 5 vehicles and key [assets] were destroyed," KDF said via Twitter.

Al-Shabaab spokesperson Abdiaziz Abu Musab denied the KDF's claims.

"We have no troop presence there. There were no al-Shabaab fighters in the area, none of our people were killed," Abu Musab said.
