Kenya: 400,000 People Face Starvation in Turkana

Over 400,000 people face starvation in Turkana County (file photo).

More than 400,000 people are facing starvation in Turkana county due to drought. County Disaster Management Executive Charles Lokioto said the situation is getting worse.

He said many families are fleeing to neighbouring Uganda to look for food and pasture. Lokioto said the county government has sent out an appeal to humanitarian groups to assist the starving families. He said the county government has been buying food to help some of the starving families but the supplied are inadequate.
