Kenya: ISPs Get New Exchange

Telecommunications Service Providers Association of Kenya has selected East Africa Data Centre to host the Kenya Internet Exchange Point.

East Africa Data beat six other firms that had expressed interest to host KIXP, a platform that allows local internet service providers to exchange traffic without using multiple international signal points.

KIXP has for the last 10 years been hosted on its own website. It frees international links from congestion, speeds up data as well as cutting down on costs and time. "This is a strategic decision for the telecoms market as we herald a new future for interconnection," said Tespok chief executive Fiona Asonga in a statement.
