Somalia: Fighting in Mahaday Town, Middle Shabelle Region Kills At Least 10

Heavy fighting broke out in Mahaday town of Middle Shabelle region on Tuesday night after Al Shabab militant group attacked bases of the Somali government forces and the African Union peacekeepers.

Reports say that at least 10 people were killed nearly 15 others were injured in the battle that has taken during overnight on Tuesday.

Somali government officials this morning said that they have re-liberated the town from the fighters of the Al Qaeda affiliated group after deadly gun battle in the overnight.

Heavy weapons could be heard in the overnight and the ruins of demolished houses by the heavy shelling turned the town seemed like abandoned village.

Mahaday is a strategic farmland town in the Middle Shabelle region. The Federal Government Forces backed by the African Union Peacekeepers took the town in early last year from the militant groups who controlled for five years.
