Three Hollywood actors, two Africans and one of African ascendency, Kenya's Lupita Nyong'o, Somalia's Barkhad Abdi and Britain's Chiwetel Ejiofor, have been nominated for the 2014 Oscar Awards.
Ejiofor, who is of Nigerian parents, was nominated for Best Actor for his role in the critically-acclaimed 12 Years a Slave, while Lupita- who has previously starred in the MTV Base TV series, Shuga - was nominated for Best Supporting actress, for the same movie. Both actors were nominated in the same categories at the just concluded Golden Globe Awards.
