Egypt: Cabinet to Increase Social Security Pension By 50 Percent

The Cabinet, under Prime Minister Hazem El-Beblawy, decided on Thursday 16/01/2014 to increase the value of the social security pension by 50 percent as of January 1.

About 1.5 million families will benefit from the decision. Beblawy made the remark in a press conference held following a cabinet meeting.

Beblawy further said that the increase, worth about EGP 1.2 billion until the end of the fiscal year in June, will be covered by the State budget.
