Kenya: Sh11 Billion for Nairobi Water Supply

THE government on Friday signed a Sh11.7 billion (€100 million) concessional loan with France Devel- opment Agency (AFD) to expand water services in Nairobi.

The loan, priced at two per cent with a grace repayment period of 25 years, is part of the Sh26.91 billion (€230 million) for the Northern Collector Phase One project (expansion of the Nairobi water supply).

The remainder is being financed by the World Bank to a similar amount of Sh11.7 billion (€100 million) while German's state owned development bank, KfW, has commit- ted a Sh3.51 billion (€30 million) loan towards the project. The project will be completed in two years.
