Kenya: Polio Jab Targets 200,000 Children

MORE than 200,000 children under the age of five in Siaya county will benefit from a five-day polio vaccination exercise starting today. The vaccination aimed at eradicating the disease will be rolled out in all the six constituencies.
Addressing journalists yesterday, Siaya county director of health Omondi Owino said the vaccine will be free of charge dur- ing the kick-out polio campaign.
He was accompanied by county health promotion officer Gladys Omokwye. Omokwye said polio may cause death due to breathing difficulties.
