Nigeria Sunday evening in Cape Town continued their dominance over South Africa in football circles as the home-based Super Eagles team thrashed Bafana Bafana 3-1.

The victory was all the Coach Stephen Keshi-tutored Eagles needed to seal their place in the quarter finals of the ongoing African Nations Championships.

Ejike Uzoenyi scored the first goal for Nigeria in the 22nd minute, while Rabiu Ali increased his goal haul to three, via a 32nd minute penalty.

Gbolahan Salami was hauled down by Bafana goalkeeper, Moneeb Joseph, to hand the Eagles the penalty.

Having been voted MVP in the Eagles outing, Uzoenyi did a good job to get Nigeria a deserved third goal before South Africa managed to pull one back through Netmnarpd Parker.

The goal was not enough to keep South Africa afloat as the other game in Group A ended Mali 2+1 Mozambique.

Nigeria and Mali effectively are through to the quarter-finals.
