Libya: Security Sitution in Libya - Marzouki Expresses Support to Libyan Authorities

Carthage, — Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki said Tunisia supports the Libyan authorities and people in the aftermath of the latest unfoldings of the security situation in Libya as he had a telephone conversation, on Saturday, with Libyan Premier Ali Zeidane.

The latter assured that "the situation in Libya is under control following attempts by former regime remnants to sow discord in the country," a Presidency press release indicated.

The Libyan General National Congress, the highest authority in the country, Saturday decreed the state of emergency in the wake of the clashes that broke out over the last days between rival tribes in southern Libya.

The skirmishes left several dead and injured, according to media reports.
