Nigeria: Ejigbo Violence - IG Orders FCID to Take Over Case

Several months after the police failed to nab the perpetrators of the torture of two women, who were alleged to have stolen pepper in a market in Ejigbo, Lagos, the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered that the case be handled by detectives from the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

Two women were said to have been humiliated by some market men and women in the market, for stealing pepper. Although they were said to have denied the allegation, they still were beaten and various forms of injuries unleashed on them.
