Kenya: Nyeri Quail Farmers Bid to Prop Falling Prices

24 January 2014

QUAIL farmers from Nyeri have formed an association to market the birds and their eggs. More than 200 farmers met at PCEA St Cuthbert in Nyeri town on Wednesday to form Wild Birds Farmers Association of Kenya.

Emma Njoora, a member, said they want to market the birds and their eggs since their prices have started dropping. Njoora said the association will ensure farmers generate wealth through sustainable management of the birds. She criticised the media for negative publicity over the birds saying many have been cured of their ailments by quails' eggs.
