The Machakos county government has completed the construction of Kenya's first amphitheater. "It will be opened on Friday February 14. There will be entertainment throughout the weekend with live bands performing," Machawood CEO Victor Muniafu said. Muniafu said the open air theatre will also serve as a major tourist attraction.

The Amphitheatre is located at the new Machakos city recreational park, overlooking Maruba dam,a kilometre from Machakos town.
