Ethiopia: Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamaa Welcomes Ethiopian Forces Re-Hatting Under Amisom

Ahlu Sunna wal Jamaa (ASWJ) militia welcomed the integration of Ethiopian troops into the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), Somalia's Hiiraan Online reported Thursday (January 23rd).

Speaking at a meeting of ASWJ members in Baidoa, ASWJ leader Sheikh Ali Nur Mohamed Idiris said the move would hasten al-Shabaab's ouster from Somalia.

"As Ahlu Sunna wal Jamaa we are playing a key role in the fight against al-Shabaab and we see that the integration of Ethiopian troops into AMISOM was a major move forward which will help the AU peacekeeping operation in Somalia become more successful," Idiris said.

"We request the Ethiopian forces to quicken their anti-al-Shabaab operations to remove the remnants of the terrorist group from more lands in south Somalia still under their control," he said.
