Uganda: Karamoja to Get Solar-Powered Irrigation

At least fourteen solar-powered micro irrigation systems will be constructed across the semi-arid Karamoja region in a bid to boost food security.

For years, Karamoja has severely suffered from the effects of unpredictable weather patterns, dominated by prolonged spells of drought. As a result, crop and animal production has largely failed and left many people there on the brink of starvation.
