Nigeria: Katsina Assembly Passes 2014 Budget

Katsina — The Katsina State House of Assembly has passed into the 2014 budget of N113 billion into law. Governor Ibrahim Shema, while presenting the budget in December, said he would concentrate mainly on solid minerals development, water supply and creation of employment opportunities. Shema said N81.1 billion is for capital expenditure while N32.4 billion is for recurrent expenditure.

A break down showed that N2 billion is meant for quick intervention, N5 billion for administration, N410 million for the judiciary and N1.5 billion for the legislature. N766 million has been budgeted for the ministry of religious affairs, N4.5 billion for health, N478 million for youths and sports and N513 million for the media and public relations department.
