Liberia: No Fear for Weah - UP Declares

Ahead of this year's special senatorial election expected in October, as well as the pending 2017 general elections, the ruling Unity Party has clarified that it holds no fear in challenging the political leader of the main opposition Congress for Democratic Change or CDC, Mr. George Weah for the Montserrado County Senatorial seat.

Appearing on the Truth FM's Truth Breakfast show in Paynesville yesterday, the Party's Secretary General, Wilmont Paye decided to keep secret, the names of three persons, he said, have expressed interest to run on the UP ticket for the Montserrado County Senatorial seat- a direct challenge to Mr. Weah, who heads a party, presumably dominated by a youthful population, especially in Montserrado County.
