Somalia: Puntland President Names Cabinet Nominees

President of Somalia's federal state of Puntland Abdiweli Mohamed Ali on Tuesday (January 28th) announced his cabinet, comprised of 46 members including 18 ministers, 19 deputy ministers and nine state ministers, Somalia's Garowe Online reported.

Three rival presidential candidates, Ali Haji Warsame, Saadiq Eenow and Shir Haji Farah, were appointed to cabinet positions in the ministries of education, health and finance, respectively.

The cabinet also includes members of former President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole's government, former members of the Khatumo state government and several new appointees. Two women were appointed to cabinet posts, and three to deputy minister posts.

"The cabinet is a mixture of team of rivals, technocrats and young professionals. I wish them the best in carrying Puntland state forward," Ali said via Twitter.
