Zambia: RSTA to Re-Examine Erring PSV Drivers

THE Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) will start re-examining all Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers that defy road traffic regulations.

Senior public relations manager Mercy Mwila said all PSV drivers who contravene the law would be re-examined by RTSA.

Ms Mwila said the agency had observed that there were high levels of incompetence among PSV drivers in the country.

She said in a statement yesterday that the agency was worried with the high number of road traffic accidents caused by incompetent PSV drivers.

Ms Mwila said according to the law, the agency would order a fresh driving test to contravening drivers and that if they failed, their driving licences would be revoked.

She said the re-examination of drivers contravening road traffic rules was underpinned by section 68 (1)) (a) and (b) of the Road Traffic Act No.11 of 2002.
