Angola: Official Advocates Adoption of Feasible Model of Tax Collection System

The head of the Executive Project for Tax Reform (PERT ), Ngouabi Salvador, said on Thursday, in Luanda, that it is important that Angola adopts a model of tax collection system which is feasible and pragmatic conferring autonomy and robustness to the national tax administration and help in attracting more taxpayers and, therefore, higher revenues for the country.

The official, who was speaking on "The characterization and role of tax administration bodies" in a workshop for journalists, said that the country's tax authorities are still quite deficient and that this is due to the small number of qualified human resources, the limitation in technical means and the fact that it is dependent on a governmental department (in this case the Ministry of Finance).
