Egypt: Blair Urges International Community to Support Egyptian Government

The International Quartet envoy to the Middle East peace process Tony Blair has urged the international community to support the current Egyptian government.

In statements to Sky News Arabia, Blair, who served as British prime minister, said he viewed the region as a big picture with different parts, wondering if open-minded communities with advanced economies can be seen in the Middle East region and allow a country like Egypt to capitalize on its great potential.

He added Egypt is not an ordinary country and that the nation has great civilization and people who failed to see progress being made in their homeland over past periods.

"It is essential to support the government in Egypt to help the country herald a new era of development and democracy," Blair said.
