Somalia: Several Men Dressed in Gov't Military Dresses Arrested

Wanlaweyn — The lower Shabelle region of Somalia has become popular for illegal road barriers which are often operated by men in Government military dresses in past months, however security operations conducted by the Somali Government forces today has resulted in the arrest of 30 men who were at that time manning an illigal road block in the region.

the illigal road blocks in the region are approximately 25 in the lower Shabelle region alone and the Government troops have started a clean up exercise to eradicate them in order to curb the problems which motorists and civilians face in volatile region.

Colonel Shegow who is leading the troops in the clean up exercise told the media that their mission will continue towards Shalanbood and the port town to Marka.

Civilians and Motorists in the lower Shabelle region have been complaining to the Government to tackle the rising insecurity in the region caused by men in Government military dresses who charge huge sums of Money and sometimes loot civilians of their belongings.
