More often than not, whenever a married person dies, and leaves property behind, only the known family members of the deceased as provided for in their Wills are catered for.

Where the person died without a Will, only the known family members can consider themselves in distribution of the deceased's estate. There are instances where the deceased leaves other offsprings, who are not his immediate family unit - for example he could have had an affair with another woman or man and had children outside marriage.
