Kenya: MPs Cannot Set Their Own Pay, Rules Court

MPs cannot determine their own salaries, allowances and benefits. A three judge bench has declared the National Assembly Remuneration Act unconstitutional, and that MPs exceeded their powers, when they nullified SRC's gazette notice setting their pay. The judges say that only SRC can set and review salaries of state officers.
