Tanzania: Fuel Prices Up Again

FUEL prices have slightly increased effective yesterday due to rise in price of the products in the world market and the depreciation of the shilling.

The Energy and Water Utilities Authority (EWURA) announced that retail prices for petrol would increase by 19/- per litre to 2,145/- per litre for Dar es Salaam.

The increase is equivalent to 0.88 per cent. Diesel price has gone up by 25/- per litre to 2,114/- for Dar es Salaam, an equivalent to 1.18 per cent increase.

The price for kerosene has risen by 20/- per litre to 2,069/- which is equivalent to one per cent rise.

Ewura further said wholesale prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene have increased by 18.80 per litre or 0.98 per cent, 24.37 per litre or 1.23 per cent and 19.92 per litre or 1.02 per cent respectively.

"These changes have been caused by change in price of petroleum products in the world market and depreciation of the shilling against the American dollar," Ewura said in a statement.
