Maputo — Life is beginning to return to normal in the administrative post of Pembe, in the southern Mozambican district of Homoine, which was the scene of panic in early January when gunmen of the former rebel movement Renamo appeared in the area.
However, when the armed forces (FADM) seized the old Renamo base in the Pembe locality of Catine, which the gunmen were trying to re-establish, the threat receded. There have been no further reports of Renamo groups in Homoine for the past month.
