Mozambique: Electricity Restored to Beira and Chimoio

Maputo — The Mozambican electricity company EDM restored power supplies to the central cities of Beira and Chimoio early on Monday morning, according to EDM spokesperson Alberto Banze, cited in Tuesday's issue of the Maputo daily “Noticias”.

Beira, Chimoio and many smaller towns in Sofala and Manica provinces, along the highway from Beira to Zimbabwe, had been suffering major power cuts since 29 January when a transformer exploded in the Chibata sub-station in Manica.
