Somalia: SIMHA Calls for Immediate Release of Arrested Journalist in Mogadishu

Somali independent media house association (SIMHA) strongly condemns the arrest of two Somali journalist namely Mohamed Haji Bare who is the director of Radio Danan in Mogadishu and Ibrahim Yare director Radio Hattuf based in Mogadishu.

Both Danan and Hattuf radio stations are members of Somali independent media house association which brings together more than 27 independent media house association mainly in south and central Somalia.

The two were arrested by Somali National intelligence agency in their headquarters in Mogadishu after interrogation for unspecified issue.

"It is unfortunate to hear the arrest of our colleagues and we call for their immediate release "Hassan Gesey SIMHA chairman said

Somali independent media house association therefore calls upon the Federal government of Somalia for the unconditional release of the two innocent journalists in custody in respect to the right and freedom of the press.
