Mozambique: MDM Condemns Government-Renamo Deal

Maputo — The opposition Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM) has condemned the negotiations between the government and the former rebel movement Renamo over the electoral law, behind the back of the country's parliament, the Assembly of the Republic.

Speaking at a press conference in Beira on Tuesday, MDM leader Daviz Simango, accused Renamo and the ruling Frelimo Party of treating matters of national importance “in a secretive way, in order to accommodate narrow interests”.
